Lumped spring-mass resonance analogy
An analogy in which a vibrating system is approximated by a series of connected springs and lumped (concentrated) masses. This analogy allows the performance of the system to be more easily visualized and analyzed than the actual system. The lumped spring-mass analogy forms the basis for finite element analysis.
