Shear welding

A process of joining two parts by applying vibration whose direction is in the plane of the boundary between the two parts. Shear welding is used in ultrasonic metal welding and low frequency (120 Hz, 240 Hz, etc.) plastic welding.

Note: shear welding is not directly associated with a shear wave.
