Tapered slot
A slot that has been machined with a tapered end mill so that the walls of the slot converge toward the center of the horn. Unlike conventional straight (untapered) slots that must be machined in several passes in titanium, tapered slots can be machined in a single pass. For 20 kHz horns, a tapered slot has a typical width of 6.6 mm at the narrowest point using an end mill with a 10° included angle.
